Lviv draws many thousands of tourists each year because of its impressive architecture and its proximity to the Carpathians. One of Ukraine's most popular ski resorts, Slavsk, is an hours drive away (regular bus and trains to the resort) and in summer time, the Carpthians are equally popular for the fantastic mountain walking that can be done.
