Eurovision Kyiv 2017

It's Eurovision fever in Kyiv as one of the most iconic music competitions comes to the city. Contestants from 42 countries will be battling it out to take the top spot and the show will be screened to millions of viewers all over the world.

Eurovision has come to Kiev due to Jamala's win last year in Sweden with her runaway hit "1944". Ukraine will be making Eurovision history with three men hosting the show.

The presenters include 26 years old Oleksandr Skichko, a singer, presenter and Ukraine's Got Talent veteran. Co-hosting are Volodomyr Ostapchuk, an experienced TV and radio host, and fan favourite Timur Miroshnychencko. Miroshnychencko has presented the Eurovision Junior's twice before and will be primarily in the green room.

Spanning 14 days, over 20 000 visitors are expected to the International Exhibition Centre in Kyiv. The final will be held on May 14th.

Originally in Switzerland in 1956, Eurovision has expanded to now host singers from 42 different nations. The winner will walk away with the iconic glass statuette trophy as well as winning for their country the next year's hosting of Eurovision.

Ukraine's winner last year was Jamala with her smash hit "1944" which tells the story of Crimean Tartars deported from their homeland by Soviet Authorities.

This hasn't been the only time that Ukraine has done well in Eurovision. Their first performance, in 2003, didn't make any waves but in 2004 Ruslana Lyzhychko, more known as Ruslana, performed her hit "Wild Dances". Her song and energetic performance stole the show and Ukraine hosted Eurovision 2005.

The winner will be announced on May 14th; so keep your fingers crossed for your chosen performer!
