Sevastopol is the city in the extreme South-Eastern part of the Crimean peninsula on the same parallel with the Italian city - Milan and the French city - Lyons. It is a warm piece of our sunny Crimea, and is loved by many Ukrainians as well as guests of our country. And it is of no wonder. This is a peaceful and pleasant city with no modern super rush, with unique climate, terrific nature and beautiful sea.
The population of the Sevastopol city is about 390 000 people, among them Russian - 74.4%, Ukrainian - 20.6%, with the remaining 5% comprised of other nationalities (Belarusian, Crimean Tartar, Jews, Armenian, Greek, German, Bulgarian, Moldavian, Polish, Estonian, Latvian, Korean, etc.).
The city itself has the division that provides different districts, such as Leninsky, Nakhimovsky, Gagarinsky, and Balaklavsky districts. Sevastopol also contains towns of Inkerman and Balaklava and 46 townships (former villages).
Governed by the Law of Ukraine, the city has a specially governed status (unlike other Crimean cities it is directly subordinate to the central Ukrainian authorities, not the Crimean authorities). The only other city in Ukraine with the same status is the capital f our country, Kyiv. Legislative authority - the City Assembly consisting of the deputies. Executive authorities of Sevastopol city is the city administration.
12 research institutes and organizations, including 2 scientific institutes of the Ukrainian Academy of Sciences, the Sevastopol State Polytechnical University (with 10 thousand students), the Sevastopol Institute of Nuclear Energy, the Sevastopol Naval Institute, 12 technical schools and professional schools, 60 comprehensive schools, colleges and lyceums are present in this unique Southern city.
General intention of all property market players to increase the terms of the high season is not only words. Crimea is a unique corner of our country that has a bit different subtropical climate that is pleasant to live and to rest in every season. Places of interest
Chersonese Tavricheskiy
This city existed almost for two centuries at the Crimeam coast. It was called Chersonese Tavricheskiy (from the Greek Chersonese- peninsula).
In 422-421 BC it was founded by the Gerakliots whose origin as South (small Asian) city Gerakleya at the bank of the bay that nowadays has the name of Karantinnaya. In one century Chersonese is turned into one of the hugest polices cities governments of Northern Black sea region. It was a slavery republic with democratic form of government. It was a center of trading and culture. Its population reached 20 000 people.
From V centure B.C Chersonese is in the content of Byzantium Empire. In 988 after 9 month blockade the city (Russian name Korsun) was captured by the prince Volodymyr. Here Volodymyr accepted the Christianity. At the end of XII XIV Chersonese struggled twice from the Tatars attacks. The city stopped the existence at the middle of XV century. Already in 1472 the Genoese council in Kafa (Feodosia) called it one uninhabited place.
Today on its place the Chersonese historical archeological preserve (territory of Sevastopol) was founded. Visiting the museum one can watch the ruins of antique theater the single in our country, city streets, the region of guarding walls with tower of Zenon and many others interesting architecture constructions.
Sevastopol is the largest non-dying commercial and fish proding Black Sea port of Ukraine and one of the major industrial, scientific, and cultural centers of the country and Eastern Europe in general. Being situated on the site of the ancient Greek colony, Chersonese, the city itself and the Black Sea Fleet, based in this South Crimean city, have occupied a significant place in Russian and Soviet history.
Theaters and Museums

The whole city can be considered as one big museum, with over 1,800 monuments and historical memorials. Among them are Russian, Ukrainian, British, French, Armenian, Georgian, German, Greek, Italian, and other historic sites such as the well-known Chersonese, "Panorama of the Heroic Defense of Sevastopol during the 1854 - 1855 Crimean War", diorama "Storm of Sapun Mountain on May 7, 1944", "British Crimean Military Memorial," and many others. Sevastopol is visited by more than 500,000 tourists per year.
