Europes new ski boom resort
A ski resort in Europes biggest mountain range in Europes biggest country. Slavsk in the Ukrainian Carpathians.
These beautiful mountains end near the historic city of Lviv, with its airport and rail and road links direct to Slavsk gateway to the Carpathians. This village and the higher ski area is growing fast; in fact, exploding with development activity. Polish and Ukrainian banks and companies, in particular, are pouring large sums into new developments. Plot prices have been shooting up in value. The secret is getting out and the rest of Europe will soon catch on.
Ukraines first ski apartment offer
Remarkably, for a country that likes skiing, Ukraine has, until now, not provided accommodation for sale that is typical of ski resorts the world over, namely apartments. Hotels and private chalets have been the norm. This gap will soon be filled as enterprising developers, Hanroc Developments Ltd, are releasing Eagle Valley Mountain Resort, a community of 75 apartments and luxury leisure and spa centre, on a superb site with commanding views over the resort. This follows the instant success of their remarkable Eagle Rock community in Beli Iskar, Bulgaria (www.eaglerock-bg.com). Mineral water from a private local source supplies all the leisure centre and apartments. Apartment owners and their guests have free use of the facilities under the terms of their modestly priced service agreement.
Slavsk has a number of ski lifts the nearest being just 350m from the doors of Eagle Valley, which is at over1200m elevation. Many more new lifts are planned around the location of Eagle Valley. The mountains around Slavsk offer unparalleled opportunities to enjoy one of Europes last unspoilt natural environments. The rental benefit
Thousands of skiers and lovers of mountain activities flock to Slavsk in season, and increasingly so in summer too. The car parks become jammed with luxury marques, reflecting the high disposable income of the Ukrainian middle and business classes. At present, there is a considerable shortage of modern accommodation. Skiers and mountain enthusiasts sometimes have to travel long distances from accommodation even up to a 100 kms one way! Prices per night for basic no ensuite rooms are around $80! Local hotels are often booked up two seasons in advance.

Slavsk city description
Slavsko is situated on the height of 750 m over the sea level - one of the best Ukrainian ski centres. There are several ski ways of international meaning in Slavske. The central ski way of the sport club "Dynamo" was used fro international contests not once. The landscape of the mountains is very variable that permits to ski not only for the professional skiers but also for the beginners. The natural location of Beskida and Gorgana slopes around Slavsko has created a unique microclimate due to which pleasant not windy weather is present in all seasons and snow is present till April.
Slavsko is the center of ski sport, tourism and rest in a picturesque meadow of rivers Opir and Slavka in the level of 501 m over the sea. This corner became a mecca of skiing in winter and the center of tourism in summer. Natural location of mountain range Beskidy and Gorgana around Slavsk has created a unique microclimate that provides peaceful weather with large quantity of snow in winter and is stably keeping till the end of April. In summer one can see wonderful landscapes with green pine trees on the slopes of the mountains.
There are several ski ways of International meaning in Slavsko. They provide one seat and 15 bugle lifts that take up during one hour more than 7000 skiers. The length of seat lift on the Trostyan Mountain is 2750 m. Bugle ski lifts that are located on this mountain have the length of 600 to 1200 m. The diversity of landscape and difficulty levels is present here.

Trostyan mountain
Still during the times of occupation by Poland there was a ski lift on the mountain. As a pulling power was used a pare of horses. Probably it was the most economically efficient ski lift that was working on four cups of barley per day. Hence later the horses were changed to a diesel motor. At that time Trostyan mountain was mentioned by some ski lovers who took their skies to their arms and go up the mountain during half of the day with the purpose to make one way down.
In the middle of 60-ties of previous century two enthusiasts of skiing came there. It was some diplomatic coworker Pankiv, who was the representative of USSR in one of the Scandinavia countries and his friend with double education in law and physical training. The latter was the one who made unknown mountain one of the best ski resort area in the whole Union. Only in 2004 the street Gagarina in Slavsko where the base building of "Dynamo" sport club stands, will be renamed to the street with his name.
Polytechnic mountain
The second popular in Slavsko mountain. It is located at the entrance to the village. There are ski lifts of Lviv polytechnic and Lviv physics and mathematics institutes.
Polytechnic suits ideally for those who are in the process of studying how to ski or for the parents with their children. The slope has a length of about 1 km. There are three ski lifts on this mountain, two short ones- "Polytechnic" and "Lviv", and another lift that brings to the top -"FMI". As on the top as near the lifts you will see a lot of cafes providing delicious hot snacks between ways down.
Pogar mountain
It contains three ski ways concerned to the amateurs and beginners. One can go down not only in day time but also at night as the ways are lighted. There are also tables and cafes on the mountain.
How to get here
By car
The largest ski resort of Ukraine takes a very comfortable geographical location. If you go by your car then there is a way to Slavsk near the main highway Kyiv-Uzhgorord in 2 km from Skole. Reaching the distance of 20 km you will be in the center of your aim just in 20 min.
By train
It is also very comfortable to reach the place by train as Slavsko is located on the distance of 120 km from Lviv and in 60 km from Striy. All the trains with East-West direction have an obligatory stop in Slavsko. The trains that are available currently are: Moscow-Chop, Kyiv-Chop, Kyiv-Uzhgorod, Kyiv-Mukachevo, Kupyansk-Uzhgorod, Kharkiv-Uzhgorod, Kyiv-Vienna. The average cost for the train tickets from Kyiv to Slavske is 314 grn (57 USD) for luxe cabin and 75 grn (14 USD) for bed compartment. Here you also can find a well-equipped railway station where you can always get the tickets to all directions. The net of local trains is well developed - with direction to Lviv and Uzhgorod. There are in general 8-10 per day.
By air
Close city to Slavske Lviv has an international airport that combines some cities of Europe with Lviv. For example you can use the flights from Barcelona, Warsaw, Vienna, Verona, Lissabon, Madrid, Moscow, Rome, and Frankfurt. The airports in these cities are the net stations that unite other important European airports. There is also an air access to the Ukrainian cities of Kyiv and Sympheropil.
You will be always met by the owners of cars and taxis who will easily take you to any part of the village or directly to ski ways.
