Ukraine is a land of many opportunities in property investment. It's a market that is still developing and competition in a number of sectors is not as great as in "mature" markets such as Western Europe.

Hotel provision is significantly less than in more advanced markets, for example. In fact, the recent International Hotel conference in Berlin estimated that just to catch up with the average market supply the number of hotels per thousand inhabitants in Ukraine would need to increase by almost ten times compared to what it has in 2011.

Supermarkets and other retail outlets are also underdeveloped as a market sector. Today in Ukraine, retail space makes up only 90 square meters per 1000 Ukrainians, which is several times lower than typical in other European countries.

A good time to invest

Ukraine is emerging strongly from a bad economic slump from late 2007 to early 2010. High interest rates shook out weaker operators and a leaner, more competitive economy is growing again. Yet, property prices are still down. This gives us a window of opportunity to negotiate hard on behalf of our clients.
