“Ukrzalznicja” doesn’t refuse the building of Biskidky tunnel in the Zakarpasky region. The news was reported by the head of the department of engineering constructions Georgy Linnik. According to his words engineering-geological works started last year are going to be finished in October 2006. This work is held by the Dutch company, which was presented with tender by the European Bank of Reconstruction and Development (EBRD).

If this work is finished in October, the engineering research report is formed and the credit agreement is coordinated EBRD together with “Ukrzalznicja” will hold the international tender for the determination of contractor who will build this tunnel. Thus Linnik mentioned that the earlier the Parliament is going to ratify the document the earlier a contractor will be selected.

On the 31, August 2004 Ukraine and EBRD signed the Guarantee agreement, which provides the credit for “Ukrzalznicja” in a sum of 120 million of USD. This money is planned for the purchase of carriages in the program of providing the high-speed railway connection in Ukraine, for buying the equipment and also for the reconstruction of the Bisidsky tunnel, which is a part of the fifth European transporting corridor. The credit is provided for 15 years under the 4-6%. As well the construction of the tunnel will take 40 million USD. But at the same time the tunnel didn’t find support of the Verhovna Rada, despite the fact that the profile committee agreed for its ratification. It is planned that as an International transporting corridor this tunnel will induce the increased goods traffic in the direction “Europe-Asia”.
