Ukraine - Rebirth

This can be a name for an album of some popular singer, a song or even a book. But this is actually the name of the situation in Ukraine today. This country has a long way from one political crisis to another. On 30 of September the voters again are going to cross the threshold of election rooms to give their voices for one of the candidates.
If you are a foreigner and looks on this country in the light of political events, do not be in hurry to make the conclusions about the Ukrainian economical situation. In fact, Ukraine "made a new breath" and is successfully overcoming strained political struggles.

So what is the reason for such impressive economical performance?

Experience of Ukraine says that not always political crisis is connected with economical destabilization. Gross domestic product powered ahead by an impressive 8% during the first half of 2007, and economists expect the strength to continue, boosted by a surprisingly diverse economy. Metals, mainly steel, account for 40% of exports, but most of the growth is coming from manufacturing and services. Production of heavy equipment rose 22% in 2006. And Ukraine's software houses saw their exports jump by 50% last year, to some $250 million.
The main thing is that the political crisis has interrupted structural reforms: pension reform, tax reform, judicial reform, which Ukraine badly needs as a post-Soviet state.

Investing to Ukraine - promising perspective

Investors do see a real perspective in Ukraine. Ukrainian real estate boom has caused increasing in prices for about 60% just in 12 months. Taras Kutoviy, chief financial officer at XXI Century Investments, admits -"We joke that as long as all these disputes are going on, politicians don't have time to interfere in business".

Investing in the Ukrainian property is absolutely of great interest for the Western and Russian investors with those looking for residential property focusing on prime areas such as the capital, Kyiv, the fashionable Crimean coast and the fast-growing ski resorts of the Carpathian Mountains, including Slavsk. There are plenty of scheduled flights to Kyiv and Lviv (via Vienna) from Britain (BA and Ukrainian airlines) from £120 return. The journey time from London takes just several hours.

Balaclava - another coastal and not less perspective than Yalta city in Ukraine - Balaclava is an interesting investing spot. Presently two newly renovated apartments that have adorable view of the bay and nice location near the sea are presented for sale and rent.   There are attracting increasing numbers of multinationals seeking to sell to them. In June, PepsiCo plunked down $542 million for Ukrainian fruit juice maker Sandora that possesses 50% of the local juice market. Two months earlier French supermarket chain Auchan entered the country via a joint venture with local retailer Furshet.

It was reported that December 2006 was the month when the Irish Quinn Group announced the purchase of a 93 percent stake in Kyiv's Ukraine shopping mall, located on the Victory Square. The stake in the 35,000-square-meter mall went for $59 million.

Next object is Leonardo business centre located across the street from the city's Opera House, in February 2006. Leonardo is a perspective business object that is planned to be filled with shopes and offices. The general director Quinn Group in Ukraine -Vladimir Shimkin, said his company spent nearly $95 million for Leonardo.

Another bright example of selling the Ukrainian real estate to the interested foreign investors include the selling of Pyramida Shopping centre in the newly built area of Kyiv - Poznyaky.

Terry Pickard, the managing director of NAI Pickard says that foreign investors prefer to buy commercial real estate in Ukraine as it can supply regular income while Ukrainian investors are interested in a short term benefit that can be provided by the property.

External economic policy
Entry to WTO

World trading organization for today unites 146 countries of the world, which have more than 95% of world trading. These countries together produce 4/5 of world gross product, That is why this organization is actually almost global. This organization is one of the strongest and powerful from the point of view of the process of regulation of world economy as it operates the whole system of its management rules and forms of foreign economical activity.

That is why entry to WTO is obligatory for any government that has the intension to integrate into the world economy that wants to influence the formation of the rules of international economical nets. This is key argument.

Ukraine has adapted the customs-tariff to the norms of World trade organization. According to the law the Ukrainian static system is adapted to the world norms; all misunderstandings of systems in the International goods classification are deleted. The law specifies that the good nomenclature of customs tariff of Ukraine is the Ukrainian classification of goods of the foreign economic activity, based on the system of description and coding of goods.

As well the Law assumes that the establishment of new and current import duty determined by the customs tariff of Ukraine will be carried out by the Verkhovna Rada by adoption of laws. The law signed by the President will go into effect on 1 January 2008.
