
Kyiv, 12 September, 2008, President of Ukraine- Viktor Yuschenko has discussed with representatives of the European Union in Paris, France, the issues of an international conference on the modernization of the Ukrainian gas transfer system.
"We wish the European Union to consider our system of gas pipelines as part of mutual market. With representatives of the EU, the European Commission President Jose Barroso and President of France Nicola Sarkozy I was speaking about holding a conference on the modernization of our gas transport, i.e pipeline," Yuschenko report in an interview with the Die Welt media outlet posted on the Web site of the Ukrainian president on Friday.
"Today we pump 130 billion cubic meters of Russian gas, whereas 8 billion cubic meters of gas are consumed. According to specialists conclusions, this loss could be halved," Yuschenko added.
Yuschenko said a concept for transport corridors would be considered during a regional summit in Baku that will be held in November 2008.
"But Europe has to speak as one," he said. |
