The State Committee for Agricultural Policy in Ukraine is not excluding the possibility of a shortage of food-grade grain in Ukraine because of its export.
The committee's for Agricultural Policy Chairman Mykola Prysiazhniuk proclaimed this to journalists.
"We will have the same problem we had a decade ago, when quality Ukrainian grain is exported and fodder grain remains in the grain bins of the country," he mentioned.
According to Prysiazhniuk, the Cabinet of Ministers, the Agrarian Fund in Ukraine, and the Khlib Ukrainy state joint-stock firm are not managing the export of grain.
Prysiazhniuk predicts that a possible shortage of food-grade Ukrainian grain can cause an increase in the prices of bakery goods at the beginning of 2009.
As it was earlier reported, the Agricultural Policy Ministry in Ukraine is forecasting that 20 millions of cereals will be exported in the 2008/2009 marketing year (from July 2008 to June 2009).
Agricultural companies of all forms of ownership completed the harvesting of early grain crops, harvesting a total of 53 million tons. |
