Ukrainian High Technologies Company has officially started the first 4G mobile broadband net in Kyiv, hoping to eventually capture up to 15 million clients nationwide.
Ukrainian High Technologies on September 10 officially started the first 4G mobile broadband net in Ukraine based on WiMAX technology. The technology was demonstrated at the press conference on Kyiv main square, Maidan Nezalezhnosti (Independence Square), where the group also performed a concert (above) to grab the attention of potential clients.
Services, including high-speed internet and high-resolution video, will be available under the Freshtel brand.
Access will be available next month in Kyiv during a test phase, eventually spreading to other Ukrainian cities. It will cost about 20 USD per month. The company is backed by a 100 million USD investment from Private Equity and Intel Capital.
Representatives of the group admitted they would stick with expansion plans despite the recession, citing large upside potential in Ukraine for such services. |
